Pet First Aid

Let me start by asking you a simple question- Have you ever faced a situation where because of your elementary knowledge on treatment and medications, you were able to save a life!? Like the ones we see in movies where the doctor says that had you been a little late, things would have gone worse.  God forbid that any such situation happens to your loved ones but the point I am trying to make is how important it is to know the first aid essentials. Whether or not it comes to use, one should be prepared with a kit and basic know-how to deal with such situations- not only for humans but also for pets. Learn more about Pet First Aid Essentials.

There are three types of injuries which could happen to a pet- Physical, Mental and Behavioral. They are not mutually exclusive, hence one needs to assess the cause and effect relationship every time the pet faces an accident. Do not assume that the pet would behave normally under emergencies like these, even the friendliest pet might become aggressive during difficult times. One needs to stay calm and assess the scene for any additional threats to the pet before taking any action.

In all cases, one should keep the vet’s contact number and your pet’s last vaccination copy & other medical records handy, to be taken to the vet in case of emergency. These first aid management tips would come of use only if you have a cat, dog, or a rabbit. For other pets like fishes, exotic birds, exotic reptiles, or other rodents, one needs to rush to a vet immediately for all medical emergencies.

These injuries are highly common and may cause a hole in your pocket with the vet’s bill. Hence, one can consider taking Pet Insurance to protect yourself and your pet from such unwanted situations.
